May 2013

NSCAA Director of Coaching Course           5/17 - 5/19           $350           Portland, OR

The Director of Coaching Diploma is a 21-hour course designed to address the issues confronting the Director of an American club. The curriculum has been created in cooperation with US Club Soccer. It examines the technical, conceptual, leadership and administrative skills of future and current Directors of Coaching for youth soccer clubs for the purpose of developing the American soccer player. This is accomplished through a curriculum rich in application and theory and will focus on organizational structure, methods of coaching, leadership theory, evaluation and development of coaches and players and fiscal, legal and moral responsibility. Candidates will understand each of the individual units of the club as well as the interrelationship of those parts to achieve the specific goals and objectives of a youth soccer club.

NSCAA Goalkeeper Level 3           5/24 - 5/26           $190           Portland, OR

The overall objective of the Goalkeeping Level 3 Diploma is to explore the tactical components of goalkeeping and the specifics of training and developing goalkeepers.  The emphasis of this eighteen-hour course is on the tactical role of the goalkeeper within the team framework.  All candidates wishing to take the Goalkeeping Level 3 Diploma must hold the Goalkeeping Level 1 and 2 Diplomas or equivalent (NSCAA/USSF Level 1 and Level 2 Diplomas)

USSF “E” License           5/31 - 6/2           $125           Portland Metro Area

U.S. Soccer Coaching certification begins at the state level. The National “E” is an 18-hour course, which covers the elementary principles of coaching and prepares interested coaches for the “D” license course.

June 2013

USSF National “D” License           6/7-9 & 8/9-11           $300           Portland Metro Area

The National "D" License is a 36-hour course designed for the experienced coach who has already received training at the "E" level.  The focus of this course is to improve individual’s and team’s ability.  The 40 hour course has one weekend of instruction and one weekend of testing with a 10 week “Deliberate Practice” phase in between.

NSCAA National Diploma           6/14-16 & 6/21-23           $700           Portland, OR

The National Diploma is a 45-hour course designed to meet the needs of the more experienced coach, particularly those coaching at the high school level and above, or youth coaches with previous certification and a number of years working with the developing player.  The overall objective of the National Diploma is to acquaint the coach with the needs of the soccer player and provide an organized and progressive methodology of coaching those needs. Basic technical and tactical knowledge is the central theme of the course in a 6 vs. 6 model. The course includes sessions on the teaching process, psychological skills training and Laws of the Game. Participants receive a curriculum that outlines the course content and includes valuable resource material. Testing includes oral, written and practical (coaching) evaluations.

August 2013

USSF National Youth LicenseAugust           16-18 & 24-25           $550           Portland, OR

The National Youth License is designed to provide club directors of coaching, youth coaches, physical education teachers, and soccer administrators with the knowledge to successfully structure soccer environments for children aged 4-12.

The role of the coach as a facilitator is explored; the physical, mental and emotional needs and capabilities of players from 4-12 are explored; the lessons from developmental psychology are explored; and the art of teaching is explored. Candidates are videotaped for analysis during live training sessions.
